Robert Garrie Mooney, 74 of Mtn. Grove, MO departed this life on March 11, 2011 at his home. He was born on April 13, 1936 in Sparks, NE the son of Adolph and Agnes (Foster) Mooney.

Robert was married to Kay Bass and to this union a son, Robert G. (Bucky) Mooney was born. He later married Hazel DeFee and to this union a daughter, Mellissa A. Mooney joined the family. On March 17, 1975, Bob was united in marriage to Valerie Haughey at Mtn. Grove, MO.

Robert joined the US Air Force on April 19, 1954, serving time in Vietnam, Saudi Arabia and England; retiring from Whiteman Air Force Base, Knob Noster, MO after 20 years of service. He and his family moved to Mtn. Grove, MO buying a farm north of town and later buying a home in town. He retired again after 20 years from MansSteel in Mansfield, MO, he then worked for Oats, Inc for two years.

Robert was a man of many talents, using his hands to fix many things from cars to household odds and ends. He loved his horses, going to competitive trail rides and elk hunting in Colorado with his many friends. He was also and avid supporter of St. Jude's each year. He was a very loving father and friend to all.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, LaVonne Eggert. He is survived by his wife, Valerie of the home; two sons, Robert (Bucky) Mooney of West Palm Beach, FL and Daena Haughey of Mtn. Grove, MO; his daughter, Mellissa Mooney of Mtn. Grove, MO; five grandchildren, Amy, Jeremy, Elizabeth, Brayden and Ian; two great grandchildren, Anthony and Phillip; his brothers, Dwain Mooney and wife, Rose of Kilgore, NE and Howard Mooney and wife, Marcella of Hastings, NE; and his sisters, Carol Kennedy and husband, Tom of Calloway, NE and Paulette Waggle and husband, Jerry of Mtn. Grove, MO. He will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved him.
