Obituary

Robert William Walker, 77, of Cabool, Missouri, passed away on January 1, 2024 at Kabul Nursing Home after a short illness.  Bob was born on September 17, 1946 to Joel William and Ann (Lattina) Walker in Puerto Rico as his parents were stationed there with the United States Air Force.

Bob joined the United States Air Force and was deployed to Viet Nam. After serving there, he came back to work on their farm and then worked many years for the U.S. Postal Service in Cabool.

While working at the post office in 1972, a good friend, Larry Taff, set up a date between Bob and his wife-to-be, Carolyn Lyons. They were united in marriage on August 17, 1974 at the Cabool Christian Church and to this union two sons were born, Robin and Curtis.

Bob's brother Bill then met and married Carolyn's sister Brenda. Virgil Lyons later told Larry, who was his boss at the time, that his girls could have stayed at home as long as they wanted and he wished Larry would stay out of his business. But he loved his sons-in-law and forgave Larry.

Bob enjoyed working at bingo at Cabool VFW for some time. He also liked to play slot machines at the casino.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Joel and Ann Walker; his aunt, Florence Belville; and his in-laws, Virgil and Naomi Lyons. Surviving are his wife Carolyn of Cabool; son Robin and Sheryll Walker and their sons Rigel Cedric and Randyll Walker of Springfield, Missouri, and daughter Rachael "Alex" Fox of Lee's Summit, Missouri; son Curtis Walker of Fort Collins, Colorado; brother Joel "Bill" and Brenda Walker of Hartville, Missouri, and their daughter Lora and Jason Norton and children Morgan, Collin, Carter and Megan of Leesburg, Virginia, and their son Michael and Ciera Walker and children Brynlee and Brayden of Branson, Missouri; sister Joanna Walker of Mtn. Grove, Missouri; nephews Bruce and Dennis Salter; many neighbors and friends.

It didn't happen overnight, but Bob grew to love their cat, Sissy.
