Obituary

Roger Dale Howton passed away on February 10, 2026, at 1 a.m. He was born in Hubbertville, Alabama, on December 19, 1947. His parents were Clarence and Christine Howton.

Roger married his first love, Shirley Jenkins, on September 23, 1966, and to this union, four children were born. Shirley passed away on April 27, 2014.

Roger was lucky enough to find love a second time; he married Billie Jo Ellis on February 19, 2015. After this marriage, he moved to Cabool, Missouri. He loved living in the country. He loved going weekly to shows in Branson, where they had season passes to four shows.

Roger proudly served his country during the Vietnam War in 1968 and 1969. During this time, he was blown from a tank and was one of four survivors. This caused him permanent back issues and PTSD; however, he never lost the pride of serving.

Roger was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Christine Howton; two brothers, Stevie Joe Howton and Randy Howton; two sisters, Sue Redmond and Lynn Howton; one brother-in-law, Jim Poulter; and one sister-in-law, Linda Howton.

Roger is survived by his wife, Billie Jo Howton, of the home; daughter Sheila McFall (Frank) of Berry, Alabama; son Billy Howton (Jeannie) of Berry, Alabama; son Bobby Howton of Jasper, Alabama; son Ronnie Howton (Amanda) of Clarksville, Tennesse; and five grandchildren, Frank Ryan McFall, Mary Howton, Nicole Howton, Kaden Howton; and Chad Howton. He is further survived by his siblings, Ann Poulter of Louisville, Kentucky; sister Bonnie Porter (Fletcher) of Fayette, Alabama; sister Kathy Jones (Jim) of Berry, Alabama; one brother-in-law, Dan Redmond of Fayette, Alabama; one sister-in-law, Emma Howton of Phoenix, Arizona; and nieces and nephews.

Roger will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
