Obituary:

Ruby Lavond Simpson, 76 of Mtn. Grove, MO passed away on Sunday, May 22, 2016 at the Mercy Hospital in Springfield, MO. On December 10, 1939 a new baby girl entered in the Smith family home. Verd and Golda (Weaver) Smith named her Ruby Lavond Smith. Throughout her early life she walked nearly 2 miles each way to school with her brother and sisters to Fairview school.

She attended and accepted the Lord and was baptized at Fairview Baptist Church. In her early teens she became good friends with Wayne Simpson and in July 1955 they went on their first date. On May 14, 1956 they became husband and wife and spent the next 60 years side by side. They celebrated their 60 th anniversary a few days before her death in Mercy Hospital.

She and Wayne started farming on their farm shortly after their marriage, from milking cows, pruning grapes, pulling weeds, tending the strawberry fields and growing the vegetables, she loved it all. Her goal was to grow the best. Lavond was a member of Mtn. Valley Free Will Baptist Church that she faithfully attended for the past 45 years.

Lavond was preceded in death by her mother and father Verd and Golda (Weaver) Smith; her son, David (That died only a few days before her); two sisters, Lorraine Brickell and husband, Alfred and Dorothy Norton and husband, Bob; one grandson, David French and one great grandson, Gaven French.
