Ruth Loraine Lehman Cody, 87, departed this life May 23, 2016 in North Kansas City Hospital, following a brief illness. She was born in Bado, Missouri, September 6, 1928 the daughter of Gus and Malcena Akeman of Bado, Missouri.
After graduating high school she moved to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to attend Draughon's Business College and after graduation she moved to California to visit her brother Van Akeman. During her time in California, she met Robert Lehman and they were later married in Mexico on February 18, 1955. They later moved to Cabool, Missouri and spent most of their life there.
She held several jobs over the years to include bookkeeping, insurance, and volunteer work. She was best known in the Cabool, Missouri community while working and volunteering at the Cabool Senior Center. She loved playing dominoes and visiting with friends.
She was a sweet and friendly person who devoted much time to her son, grandsons, and other family. She especially loved working outdoors, gardening, and baking for family. She loved nature of all kinds and loved to pass on her knowledge to others. Some of her other favorite past times were: bowling, watching golf, putting together puzzles, and watching the Kansas City Royals.
She was preceded in passing by her parents; two brothers; two sisters and husbands, Robert Lehman and Dale Cody. She leaves her son and daughter in-law, John and Betty Lehman, of Smithville, Missouri; two grandsons, Jason Lehman and wife, Melanie of Smithville, Missouri and Jeremy Lehman and wife, Sherry of Newport News, Virginia; five great-grandchildren and many friends.
