Obituary:

Sharon Kay Long, 72 of Mtn. Grove, MO passed away on Sunday, Aug. 31, 2014 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born on February 9, 1942 in Denver, Colorado the daughter of Willard Oren and Florence (Proe) Hoffarth.

Sharon grew up in Pine, Colorado and moved to Missouri in 1961. She married the love of her life, Bruce on June 21, 1962 in Mtn. Grove, MO. She ran Long's Express for 14 years and also worked as a waitress at the City View Café. She worked for the St. Johns ambulance service as an EMT for 18 years until her health began to fail. Sharon was baptized in 1991 and at the time of her passing she was a member of the Almost Home Ministries where she loved to attend and teach children's church and Sunday school as long as her health permitted.

Sharon always put her family first. In her younger years she loved being at the Montauk State Fish Hatchery opening morning awaiting the sound of the sirens with her son, Don. She enjoyed spending time at the golf course and bowling alley where she was active in the ladies leagues. Just this past week as her and her daughter, Jackie were out for their daily drive she stated that she thought she was still able to get out and swing a club.

Sharon was preceded in death by her father, Willard Oren Hoffarth; her son-in-law, Gary Eugene Stigall and her grandparents, Lewis Sylvester and Gracie Elizabeth Hoffarth and Winfield Scott and Bessie May Proe. She is survived by her husband, Bruce Long of their home in Mtn. Grove; her mother, Florence Hoffarth of Mtn. Grove; her son, Don Looper and wife, Jeannie of Pontiac MO; her daughter, Jackie Stigall of Mtn. Grove; her brother, Gene Hoffarth and wife, Phyllis of Pueblo West, CO; sister, Nancy Land of Strafford, MO; sister, Jody Colbert and husband, Bob of O'Fallon, MO, and sister, Bonnie Hoffarth of Mtn. Grove, MO; grandchildren, Nathan Looper and wife, Jennifer of Waynesville, MO, Jeremy Looper and Michelle Hughes of Greenville, TX, Beth VanGilder and husband, Schuyler of Bella Vista, AR, Jared and Ashley Emery of Jefferson City, MO, Stephanie Lahammer of Mtn. Grove, MO, Amanda Pridemore and husband, Zach of Mtn. Grove, MO, Shane Stigall and Tori Fine of Macomb, MO and Kayla Meierotto and husband, Josh of Oakes, ND; 16 great-grandchildren and numerous other friends and family. She will be missed by everyone that knew her and her pleasant smile.
