Obituary:

Sophus Clarence Hicks lll, middle son of Sophus Clarence ll and Rita (Colborn) Hicks, was born on October 3, 1985 in Houston, Missouri. He departed this life on December 28, 2010 at the age of 25 years, 2 months and 25 days at his home near Cabool.

Bub, as he was commonly known, attended Cabool Schools until his sophomore year, when he then decided to work on the family farm.

Bub was a farmer thru and thru and raising cattle was his favorite occupation in life. Just recently, while working on a dairy farm, he decided he wanted to obtain one of his own. Besides farming, he greatly enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and any other outdoor activity.

Family and friends were also very important to Bub. He was always willing to go out of his way to help anyone who needed him, whether it was day or night. He never wanted to disappoint anyone and worked hard not to.

On August 19, 2004, Bub met the love of his life, Samantha Avgerinos. They spent every possible moment together and wouldn't have had it any other way.

Along with his mother and youngest brother, Bub accepted the Lord as his savior in the summer of 2003.

Sophus (Bub) was preceded in death by his unborn child; his father, Sophus Clarence ll; grandparents', Sophus and Maggie Hicks and Frank and Effie Colborn; a brother, Richard (Sonny) Hicks and sisters, Gail Hicks and Rachael Wagner. He is survived by his fiancé, Samantha of the home; his mother, Rita of the home; brothers, Dustin and wife, Krysten of Mtn. Grove, Jeff and wife, Tabby of Springfield, MO and Paul and wife, Melinda of Mtn. Grove; sisters, Linda and husband, Jim McMillan of Cabool and Tammy and Patty Hicks of Maquoketa, Iowa. He also leaves behind his favorite nieces, Alexandria and Taylor Hicks, Payton Hicks, Kendra and Jasmine Hardy and Sadie Thomas; nephews, Noah Hicks, Tylane and Tyler Thomas, and Caleb and Robert Ford and cousins, Maryann, Jasmine and Jeremy. As well as a host of other family and friends who will miss him dearly.
