Memorial Service:  Saturday, October 30, 2010, at 10:00 a.m. at Morning Sunrise Cemetery

Obituary:

Thomas Oliver Rutherford, 92, of Cabool, Missouri, ascended to Heaven on October 20, 2010.  Thomas was born May 15,1918 to Charles and Dora Rutherford in Delta, Iowa.  Thomas was a World War II veteran who received the Congressional Medal of Honor and the Purple Heart .

He married the love of his life, Nina Ellen Roundtree, on November 2, 1957. They raised four daughters and eight grandchildren together. He was a wonderful, amazing father, and a cherished grandfather.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Nina; a daughter, Linda Jones McKee; two sons-in-law, Dallas Hill and Bob Broyles; a daughter-in-law, Sandy Rutherford; and a great-granddaughter, Arianna Jones.

He is survived, loved, and cherished by daughters Rosellen Arlene Fry and husband Melvin, Leah Kathleen Broyles, Virginia Ellen McDowell and husband Kelly; a son, Calvin Rutherford; grandchildren Eric Jones and wife Trinette, Jennifer Fisher, Michael Jones and wife Ashleigh, Alecia Gardner and husband Gavin, Sebrina Martin and husband Jared, Daniel Broyles, Denise Strong and husband Terry, and Carly Zuniga and husband Alex; and 16 great-grandchildren.

Services will be held Saturday, October 30, 2010, at 10:00 a.m. at Morning Sunrise Cemetery, 12595 Mills Road, Cabool. Flowers can be sent to Mount Pisgah Church in Cabool.  Cremation was under the direction of Elliott-Gentry-Carder Funeral Home of Cabool.
