Thomas Edgar Alsup was born in Ava, Missouri on July 20, 1929. He departed this life in Cabool, Missouri on May 17, 2026. Tom grew up on the family farm on Fox Creek just south of Denlow. He attended Mountain Grove High School where he played football and attempted to play trombone in the band. He studied at SMS in Springfield before serving in the U.S. Air Force. He also spent some time working the wheat harvest out west.
In 1955 he married Roberta Turner and they made a home on the family farm. Tom had many stories to tell about raising his boys, working the cattle, hauling hay, canoeing, and a host of other activities and adventures.
Tom began a new chapter in his life in 1990, when he married Vivian Holmes. Together they raised cattle and ostriches, and traveled many miles in their fifth wheel camper. In the colder months they were “Winter Texans”, spending their time in Edinburg, Texas.
In addition to farming, Tom worked a stint at Mid-America Dairy in Cabool, and did carpentry work all over Douglas, Wright and Texas counties. He was also very active in church, serving Trinity United Methodist Church in Mountain Grove, and later, First Christian Church in Cabool.
This brief obituary cannot come close to describing the rich, full life that Tom lived. He was constantly involved in ventures and adventures. He was known for his sense of humor and his willingness to help others. His truly was a life well lived.
