Velma Marie Sprague, 92 of West Plains, MO, passed away Thursday February 15, 2024.  She was born October 24, 1931 in Chillicothe, Missouri, the daughter of Walter E. and Eva Marie (Hall) Childs.

Velma was baptized at a young age at the Utica Baptist Church.  After high school she was united in marriage to Frank Melvin Sprague on September 22, 1949.  To this union four children were born.

She enjoyed cooking, playing bingo, making quilts, and doing other crafts.  She also enjoyed spending time with family and friends.  She was loved by all and will be missed dearly.

Velma was preceded in death by her husband Frank; her parents; three brothers and two great grandsons.  She is survived by her four children.  Her son, Frank Sprague, JR. and wife Brenda of Butler, MO.  Three daughters, Marlene Grindstaff, of Willow Springs, MO, Gaycille Sprague of Hermiston, Oregon and Velita Jewell and husband Larry of West Plains, MO.  One brother, Jimmy Childs of Liberty, MO, Ten grandchildren and several great-grandchildren, and several great-great grandchildren.
