Obituary:

Verlin Edwin Rogers, 89 of Mtn. Grove, MO was reunited with his wife on July 6, 2020 after being apart for six years. He was born on June 21, 1931 the son of Clate and Edna (Woods) Rogers.

Verlin was a life long resident of Douglas County and faithfully attended Mt. Ararat Missionary Baptist Church throughout his adult life. His early accomplishments included: being named American Farmer of the Year in 1951 at the age of 22 and serving proudly in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict from 1952-1954.

The greatest date in his life was March 24, 1953, when Verlin was united in marriage to Nadine Wilma Barnes. From this union Verlin became the proud father to Deborah, Verl Dean, Clayton and Edwin.

Verlin owned and operated Roger's Brothers Tire with his brother for 25 years. Countless relationships were formed with customers who experienced Verlin's honesty and integrity in their dealings.

Verlin lived out his life on the farm where he loved taking care of his cattle and seeing another hay crop each season. Verlin was one of the founders of the Volunteer Fire Department and he served as a deacon at his church. Additionally,  he participated as a board member of various community organizations and was regarded as a beacon by members of the community. Verlin leaves an amazing legacy behind.

He is survived and will be greatly missed by his three children and their families: Deborah Summers and children, Allyson and Sean of Lee's Summit, MO; Clayton and Kelley Rogers and children, Casey and Cameron of Camdenton, MO; Edwin and Missey Rogers and children, Ethan Rogers, Miranda, Austin and Easton Coen of Mountain Grove, MO. Verlin also leaves his only remaining sibling and dear sister: Shirley May Cook of Bolivar, MO.
