Obituary:

Vernie Floyd Vonallmen, 89 of Cabool, MO passed away on January 18, 2016 at his home. He was born on March 2, 1926 in Rover, Missouri the son of Charley Orey and Ollie Mae (Sparks) Vonallmen.

Vernie was preceded in death by his parents, Charley and Ollie; brothers, Jake, Paul, Robert, Lloyd and Ray and his sisters, Millie Dora, Ruby and Nora Bell. Vernie is survived by his children, Janet Atchison of Norwood, MO, Jake (Melissa) Vonallmen of Cabool, MO, James (Anita) Vonallmen of Clever, MO, Jane Gittinger of Clever, MO Jay (Kim)Tyler of Willard, MO and Bradley "Scott" Vonallmen of Smyrna Beach, FL, and Christopher "Michael" (Destiny) Vonallmen of Clarksdale, MS; 20 grandchildren and 36 great grand children.

Vernie was a member of the Church of the Nazarene. Vernie left high school to join the army. Vernie served during World War II serving in England, France and Germany and loved to share stories from that time in his life. Upon returning to Cabool, he completed his education and graduated from Cabool High School. He met and married Virginia Lee Taylor. Five Children were born of this marriage. Vernie and Virginia divorced and he married Dorothy Lunsford. Two children were born of this union. Vernie led an interesting life spending time with his brother installing furnaces in Kansas, Nebraska, and Colorado. Later he worked for Noma Light Company in St. Joseph, MO. He also worked as Telephone lineman. He eventually moved back to Cabool, MO working at Sunny Hill Poultry until it closed. He then went to Arkansas living in Fayetteville and Springdale while continuing to work at poultry plants until he retired in 1988. He then moved back to Cabool, MO where he became involved with the VFW until his death. It was not unusual to see him walking around Cabool after his by-pass surgery. He will be missed by his family and friends.
