Vernon Leroy Sigman, age 88, passed away Wednesday December 5, 2018 at the Kabul

Nursing Home after a year-long struggle with cancer. He was born March 7, 1930 in

Simmons, Missouri to Carl Ray and Goldie Easter (Odle) Sigman.

Vernon grew up in the Simmons, Elk Creek community where he spent many hours

swimming and fishing in the Piney River. In 1945 he went to work at the Producers Creamery

where he worked for 43 years, which included 5 years of service in the United States Army

from 1948 to 1953. Many of the people he worked with remained life-long friends of whom he

spoke fondly.

He married Grace Peggy Darter on September 21, 1956. They were married 57 years until

Peggy's death in 2013. Together they enjoyed many activities but especially gardening and

fishing. After his retirement in 1992, they spent many enjoyable years camping and fishing on

Norfork Lake in Arkansas. To this union was born three children—Scott, Michael, and Sally

Ann.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Peggy, his parents, and two brothers, Raymond Ray

Sigman and Harold Eugene Sigman. He is survived by two brothers Ronald George Sigman of

Little Rock, Arkansas and Norman Sigman of Cabool, Missouri. Surviving children are Scott

Sigman and wife, Vicki, of Springfield, Missouri; Michael Sigman and wife, Jean, of Oviedo,

Florida; Sally Ann Palmer, and husband, Marty, of Hatboro, Pennsylvania; six grandchildren

and three great-grandchildren.
