IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Wanda L.
Sloan
August 9, 1932 – October 11, 2018
Wanda Lee Sloan, 86 of Mtn. Grove, MO passed away at her home on October 11, 2018. She was born on August 9, 1932 in Eastern Douglas County near Topaz, MO.
Wanda was born two months premature when her mother was thrown from the wagon she was riding in because the team of horses pulling it ran away. Because of her premature birth she struggled with heart issues for most of her life.
Wanda lived most of her life in Douglas County within a few miles of the place she was born; except for her high school years which were spent in Bolivar and Buffalo, MO.
On April 23, 1952 she was united in marriage to Von Sloan and to this union three sons were born. Von passed away in September 1962. She later married Albert Rogers who also preceded her in death in 1989.
Wanda will be remembered for her wonderful cooking and bountiful meals, the beautiful quilts that she enjoyed making and showing others; also, her sewing abilities. She could alter a lace wedding dress or sew a new zipper in an old pair of Carhartt coveralls. She made most of her own clothes as well as clothes for many other people. She was a homemaker, farm wife and worked as Elementary School Secretary before her retirement.
She was baptized at the age of 15 near Lebanon, MO and was a faithful member of the Fieldstone Church of Christ.
Wanda was preceded in death by her parents, Doug and Elpha Coble; her husbands and a great granddaughter, Kayden Lea Sloan. She is survived by her sons, Steve and wife, Sheri, Norris and wife, Annette and Marty and wife, Connie; 8 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and a brother-in-law, Rex Sloan and wife, Debbie. She will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved her.
