William "Bill" Arvel Emery, 70 years, 1 month and 18 days, of Vanzant, MO passed away on Wednesday, January 28, 2015 at the Mercy Hospital in Springfield, MO after a courageous battle of illness. He was born on December 10, 1944 in Mtn. Grove, MO the son of William Robert and Mildred Marie (Sanders) Emery. Bill was converted at a young age and baptized later in years at Osborn Ford.
Bill was raised in the Vanzant community and graduated from Dora High School in 1963. After graduation he went to work for McDonald-Douglas in St. Louis until returning to Vanzant; he then started working in road construction and eventually he owned and operated his own backhoe business and prior to his illness was employed for the Burdine Township.
Bill was united in marriage to Beverly Coffman on Sept. 17, 1976; with this union Bill, Beverly, Julie, Laurie and Johnny became a family and Chad would join them six years later. He enjoyed being outdoors; he loved his horses, fishing and hunting. He also enjoyed attending the Victory Church.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Jackie Lynn Emery. He is survived by his wife, Beverly of the home; daughters, Julie Emery of Gentryville, MO and Laurie Emery of Mtn. Grove, MO; sons, Johnny Coffman and wife, Phyllis of Vanzant, MO and Chad Emery and wife, Kathy of Vanzant, MO; a sister, Wanda Whillians of Blaine, WA; a brother, Robert Dean Emery and wife, Sandie of Vanzant, MO; 9 grandchildren, Justin, Danielle, Mikel, Seth, Christine, Talora, Candy, Matt and Casey; 11 great grandchildren and one on the way; as well as many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved him; but are strengthened to know he is now resting in the arms of his loving savior.
