Wilma Jo Hoots 89, of Cabool Mo entered her home in heaven on April 11,2019 at Villa Ridge Mo. She was born on June 25, 1929 in White City, Kansas to the Harry LeRoy and Dorothy Irene (Conwell) Hunter. Jo, her parents, and her two sisters moved from Kansas to Cabool where Jo graduated from High School.
She accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior at an early age and was a member of Mt Ararat Missionary Baptist Church since 1947. We rejoice in the fact that she is home with her Savior.
On Dec 21,1946 she was united in marriage to Billie Reed Hoots and to this union five children were born. Jo and her husband purchased a farm in Douglas county where they raised their children and became beloved members of the community. Early in their marriage they milked cows and later she worked as a cook at Cabool Schools. She became affectionately known as Mammie by her grandchildren and the many children that she served. She enjoyed her work at the school, building lifelong friendships during her tenure.
Family was very important to Jo and she would proudly say that her immediate family included 55 – including two sets of twins. She was dearly loved by her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great, great grandchildren. Nothing brought her more joy than spending time with her family, that included a long-standing tradition of Sunday dinners in her home. She was well known for crocheting baby blankets for friends and family near and far. Her home was always open for company, and more times than not, the house was full of grandchildren. The front and back screen doors never quit swinging from kids running through.
She was preceded in death by her father and mother Harry and Dorothy Hunter, two little brothers Vernon and Larry, her husband Billie and granddaughter Jennifer Michelle Hoots. She is survived by sons, Larry and wife, Betty, Terry, Jerry and wife, Glenda, Jody and wife, Mary; daughter, Jill and husband, Steve; 11 Grandchildren, 18 Great Grandchildren and 3 Great Great Grandchildren along with a host of other family and friends.
