Our History

Our facility was established at its current location by Gaylord and Iola Elliott in 1918. At that time they owned and operated facilities in Cabool, Houston and Summersville. Mr. Elliott purchased the first motorized hearse used in Texas County. 

In 1952, the Elliott's sold the Houston location to Raymond Duff and the Cabool location to Jim and Mary Lou Gentry. Jim and Mary Lou worked side by side for 52 years. They continued the tradition of living in the funeral home. They considered the Elliott's family and kept the Elliott name on the business throughout their ownership. 

In 2004, Jim and Mary Lou sold the funeral home to Jim and Melanie Carder. Jim had worked for the Gentry's since 1996.

We are maintaining the traditions of the previous owners. When you come to our firm you will talk with us, we are family owned and operated 24/7.

Although there have been many changes in facilities, vehicles, merchandise and types of services; there is one constant, our family serving your family.
